Decorating the baby's room!

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve updated the blog. Rocky and I have been very busy with little to show for it. We’ve decided on a color choice for the flooring in the baby’s room. We choose Pergo’s Hampton Maple:

We’ve also been looking for fabric for the crib bedding. This has proven to be a challenge as we both have opinions about how we want it to look. As a female, I want it to look “pretty” and as a male, Rocky wants it to “serve a purpose”. I must admit, I was a little surprise at how involved Rocky wanted to be in dressing the room. I LOVE that he’s been that way. It shows me that he’s going to be an involved Father. He was passionate that the fabric be bold (aka bright). He read that bold, bright colors stimulate a baby’s brain. He even bought a baby’s outfit that was made using the bold, bright colors he was thinking of (I know, adorable isn’t he!). He said it was my “inspiration”. I, on the other hand, had envisioned a fabric that had geometric designs as opposed to Winnie the Pooh or Curious George. I wanted it to be sophisticated yet but not overpowering. I also had envisioned oranges, blues and greens. Here's two samples of bedding that we like:

So for days we’ve been searching fabric stores and internet sites looking for the perfect fabric. Often we’d come close but neither of us felt like we had found “the one”. That is until now. Well, technically we haven’t seen the fabric but we found it on a website and we understand a local store carries at least ½ of the collection. It’s called Arcadia by Sanae. You can see the all samples here: http://www.unitednotions.com/fcc_arcadia.pdf. Personally I like Hypnotic Orange for the outside of the bumpers and the curtain. This would be the main fabric.

I see a second fabric on the inside of the bumpers and for the skirt and yet a 3rd fabric, probably a solid, to use as trim, borders and to cover the glider and the changing pad.

For the walls, I’m thinking just an eggshell but making the wall behind the crib a focal point. I’d like to paint a tree on the wall and pick one or more of the colors to paint the leaves. Last, I’d like to paint a cute monkey swinging from a limb and looking down into the crib at the baby.
