Well, it took over 6 months to bite the old proverbial bullet but we did it! We actually took all three kids out to dinner and SURVIVED! And they actually all stayed awake. Linda and Eddie had stopped by after a shopping trip and picked up Rocky. The met me and the kids at "canes and walkers" (that's K&W cafeteria for those that don't know what that means). Eddie took Charlie through the line, Rocky carried the twins in their carseats, and I pushed along 2 trays. Thankfully Mr. Chris helped us to our seats. We sat in the back of the restaurant so as to not disturb most folks. It was pretty active on Charlie's side of the table. First, we forgot to pack a sippy cup so he shared my glass of water. He kept taking the lemon out, sucking on it, and then dunking it back in. He spilled half the glass at one point and I had to use my napkin to wipe it up. He kept helping himself to Eddie's okra and my okra. The boy likes okra. He especially likes opening the pod up and eating the okra and breading separate. He mistook Linda's beets for cherries but realized his error after only one bite. He also likes red jello with pineapple chunks. And hush puppies are only good for saying "hush" and laughing. Towards the end William and Anna decided life of the floor was not fun so we ended up getting them out and holding them. William got to taste some of my cherry pie and Anna got to taste Rocky's chocolate pie. We learned they only like to eat when they are holding the spoon. It made for cute pictures.
All in all, it was a quiet dinner. Busy but quiet. And to help us put it all in perspective, as we were leaving, a father came in with what appeared to be a lone 5 year old and 4 year old quads. They all calmly sat down, prayed and quietly ate their dinner. However I chuckled as I heard when I walked away "but Daddy, I wanted spaghetti not chicken".
