Hi all! I haven’t blogged in quite a while and a lot has gone on. Cletus is moving much, much more and several people have been able to feel him. We’ve celebrated Thanksgiving by eating with the Heglar’s. We started putting down laminate flooring in the house. The washing machine died on us. We thought we found baby furniture but it turned out to be a recalled crib. Let’s see, what else…I guess that’s about it.
Right now our house and lives are a little bit chaotic due to the construction (or destruction as Rocky would say) in the house. First, the washing machine died on Sunday before Thanksgiving. Luckily, Rocky found a GREAT deal on an LG frontload washer AND dryer at Best Buy. Although that’s good news, the bad news is that’s apparently what we’re getting each other for Christmas. Just what I wanted… J. Next, Mom and Dad came up the following Friday and we started putting down laminate in our bedroom. We installed all the way to the living room and we have about a 6” strip left to go, along with Cletus’ room. So although our bedroom is put back together, the living room, kitchen and laundry are not and I’m about to go crazy! Not to mention I’m now out of wash rags and running extremely low on undies and socks. Hopefully by this weekend we can finish the floor and get everything moved back into place…if it doesn’t snow that is.
What’s next? Well, baby furniture I guess. We found a great set for a great price on Craigslist but it turned out the crib had been recalled and the lady wouldn’t reduce her price enough for us to warrant buying it the furniture anyway (along with buying a new and SAFE crib). So we’re back to searching. We actually bought a crib but now we’re trying to match a dresser and glider. I’ve looked on Craigslist again and I don’t think they will be too hard to find. Once we have the crib, Linda can measure and we can start on the decorating.
Oh wait, I forgot the funniest thing that occurred! Rocky went Black Friday shopping with me and Michelle. Originally it was just gonna be Michelle and I but Rocky was really concerned with me going out with all the crazies in my condition. So he reluctantly but gallantly went anyway. The adventure actually started Thursday night as we drove by Best Buy around 6pm to see if anyone was in line yet. Sure enough, a family of 4 and an older gentleman were already there. The father and son in the family of 4 were staying to pick up laptops for $199. The gentleman was standing in line for the same but his daughter was going to relieve him when she got off work. We stayed and talked to the family for about 30 minutes and then wished them luck as we headed home. Shortly thereafter, a bad thunderstorm blew through and we wondered how they all faired.
We picked Michelle up at 3:30AM Friday morning, swung by Mickey D’s (which wasn’t serving breakfast yet so we had to get hamburgers) and then hit JC Penney’s at 4am. They were giving out gifts, mini globes, to shoppers so Rocky was kinda excited he got something for going out so early. We all got everything we wanted there and headed to Target. We arrived shortly before 5am and found a huge mass of people at the entrance on the left. Then we saw a handful of people at the entrance on the right. So naturally we went to the right. Turns out, they were opening the doors on the left first and then 15 minutes later, the doors on the right. We decided to wait in the shorter line. We got to watch the shoppers running through the store for a few minutes before it was our turn. I went straight to the back where they had 700 thread count sheets for $30 and Rocky and Michelle headed off to electronics. Turns out, once again we all got what we went after and we had time to spare before Lowes opened. So we went back by Best Buy to see what was going on and to check on our washer and dryer.
We were told the washer and dryer weren’t in but Rocky noticed the floor models were gone and there was a boxed set in its place. So we calmly left the store, knowing he would handle things later when the store calmed down. Next we hit Lowes, and can you believe it, once again we got all that we wanted. We were 3 for 3. We hit Mickey D’s again, this time for a biscuit, stopped at Michelle’s for a while, and we were home and napping by 9:00AM.
Mom and Dad arrived at 1PM to help with the flooring and after about 4 hours of contemplating where to start and with what size board, the first piece went down. If anyone plans on putting down floors, call us first. We’ve got lots of hints to give you. We finished our bedroom on day 1 and the hallway and most of the living room n day 2. I’m hoping tonight is day 3.
So, that about wraps up the events on Planet Heglar over the last couple of weeks. Hey, maybe I’ll get enough done so I can put up my Christmas decorations this weekend. Anybody else get the feeling that may not be the case???
