I'm a full time working wife and Mom of 3. I love Transformers, DIY, the smell of gunpowder, and nail polish. Pretty much anything goes here. I write about what's on my mind. I have no idea if I should have used an apostrophe in that last sentence and I don't really care. If you do, please don't read ANYTHING else here. Go away.

Bigger isn't always better
Rocky and I have been sleeping on a queen size bed since we got married. At first, we were all huggy snuggy and it was nice. Every night when I got in bed, he would pull the covers back, lay out his arm for me to nestle in, and then he'd cover me up and we'd drift off to la la land. As summer arrived and the air and our bodies became warmer, we often found ourselves attempting to detach from each other in hopes of finding a cool spot. With a queen size bed, we found there wasn't much real estate. Once I got pregnant, my thermometer went subzero and Rocky's went sky high. If you took a peek into our bedroom, you'd find his side of the bed contained a sheet. My side contained a sheet, and two quilts folded in half, which technically makes it the thickness of 4 quilts. And this is how we've been sleeping ever since. Well, Rocky had the idea of trading our queen size bed for a king size bed that was sitting all alone at the lake. It might not be in great shape but it was no worse for wear than what we had at home. So the decision was made. Well, last night, we made the trade. At about 9:30pm, I got read for bed and Rocky ran a drill over to a friend's house. By 10pm, I was sound asleep. I awoke some time around midnight when Rocky came home. I remember hearing him get in bed but I can't say that I felt him get in bed until he leaned over and kissed me goodnight. Then we both rolled back into our new positions, me in the western hemisphere, he in the eastern hemisphere, and we once again drifted off to sleep. About 2:30am, I awoke for one of my usual nightly restroom trips and as I got back in bed, I placed my toes on Rocky's leg so I could secretly at least touch him while sleeping. Within seconds his legs moved away. I once again moved my toes over to his leg and he responded by asking me what I was doing. I told him I at least wanted to touch him while we were sleeping. He smiled at me and laid out his arm out and said "come snuggle". I politely declined, partly because I knew he really enjoyed sleeping unaccosted and partly because I was having a personal summer at the moment. We once again drifted off to sleep. I awoke again around 4am and discovered he was awake too. I don't remember what we said to each other but again drifted off to sleep. I finally got out of bed at 5:35am and I began getting ready for work. On my way in to work, I kept thinking about the events of last night and whether or not I felt like I had gotten a good night's sleep. I think I've come to the conclusion that although having plenty of room to stretch out is nice, having just enough room to snuggle was nice too. I think I'll stuff my side of the bed with pillows tonight so I'll be forced to move over to the eastern hemisphere. Who knows, I might even turn on the AC so I can attempt a little snuggle.
