Telling our parents we're pregnant

I called the doctor today to get an appointment to confirm I'm pregnant. When they came back with August 25th, I was more than surprised. That was weeks away. Surely they didn't expect me to wait that long before confirming I'm pregnant. But sure enough, it's apparently pretty typical to wait that long.

Next we had to decide when to tell our parents. Since I was already feeling symptoms, I had, no, I needed to tell my Mom right away. The next night we "stopped by" my parent's house. Well, that's at least what we told them. Mom and company and after she left, we all sat at the kitchen table talking. It was well after 10pm and we were all beginning to get tired. I kicked Rocky in the leg to get the ball rolling. He asked my Mom what she was doing on August 25th. She said she didn't know because it was too far off. Rocky said "well we're going to our first prenatal appointment if you want to go with us." She quickly shot me a glance and asked "are you pregnant?" I told her yes and then I told her the whole story up until then. Needless to say, she and Dad were very excited.

A couple of nights later, we went to dinner with Rocky's family. We gave his Mom a card with a monkey on the front. Inside the card read "Monkey see, monkey do, guess who's having a baby too?" At first, we didn't think she understood what we were saying. Later we realized the she was shocked. Suddenly, she and Eddie were expecting 2 grandchildren at the same time. Now you see why Eddie's toast was so ironic.
